5A PIAA Baseball Playoffs (1st Rd.): Peters Township vs. Ephrata (6-6-22)

It was “Dig Pink Night” for the annual “Backyard Brawl” in girls volleyball 🩷🏐🩷 Ephrata jumped out to the early 2-0 lead, but Cocalico grabbed Game 3… 25-18 to avoid the sweep! Lady Mounts regrouped & won Game 4… 25-15 to take the match 3-1! Ephrata's Sofia Rios had a Great serving night with 7 total aces! Martina Elliot led the team with 14 kills! For the Lady Eagles, Jaclyn Niven had 16 kills and 5 blocks!

It was a Battle of former Section 1 foes & heated Rivals in the L-L League as Hempfield & Warwick squared off in the L-L League Semifinals! Black Knights had the advantage on the boards & used it, knocking off Warwick again…52-48! Tate Landis led all scorers with 17pts; Carter Horst had 11! Cole Overbaugh had 12pts for Hempfield! Back to back tough losses for Warwick, who fell 3-1 to Penn Manor! After tying the game in the 6th inning with a lead-off home run by Madison Minney... the Comets got 2 runs in the 7th inning & Warwick could not respond!

Manheim Central grabbed their 1st Win of the season 40-24 over Cocalico in another Great Section 2 Showdown! Upper weights started off strong for the Barons with Falls from Noah Templin at 189, Brodie Daugherty at 215, & Jason Dougherty at 285! Eagles fought back at the lighterweights, but Central’s Cody Hess (160) & AJ Hondru (172) slammed the door for the Baron Win!
