Sportstalk Recap: Week 1 HS Football

Hempfield Boys Volleyball makes a statement as they sweep Warwick 3-0, ending the Warriors unbeaten record! Black Knights also forced a tie atop the Section 1 standings! Both teams have now won on their home courts... if they win out, Warwick & Hempfield will share the title! Will we see a Round #3? The Cocalico Eagles made history in their 5A District 3 Championship Game, becoming the ONLY #12 seed to EVER WIN a title in District 3 (no matter the classification)... beating #2 Exeter 34-14! It's Cocalico's 4th title in program history, 1st for head coach Bryan Strohl! Eagles last won the 5A Title in 2019!

They now move onto the 5A State Semifinals against Pine-Richland on Friday, December 2! The game will air LIVE on Blue Ridge 11 TV from Mansion Park in Altoona at 7pm!

Manheim Central girls 🏀 kept pace in the Section 2 Title race with a win over Warwick… 33-24! Payton Snyder had a Career High 12 points for the Lady Barons, who ended the 2nd half on a 19-9 run! Central made it 4 Wins in a row & now sit 1 back of Ephrata for the section lead!

It was a Battle of former Section 1 foes & heated Rivals in the L-L League as Hempfield & Warwick squared off in the L-L League Semifinals! Black Knights had the advantage on the boards & used it, knocking off Warwick again…52-48! Tate Landis led all scorers with 17pts; Carter Horst had 11! Cole Overbaugh had 12pts for Hempfield!
