5A PIAA Baseball Playoffs (1st Rd.): Peters Township vs. Ephrata (6-6-22)

#6 Manheim Central moved onto the next round of 5A District 3 Playoffs after a 32-25 win over #11 Cocalico! Lady Barons also qualified for the PIAA State Tournament in March! For Central, Gianna Walters had 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers… giving her a Single-Season High 51–3’s (101 Career)! Maddie Gehman added 11 points, 9 in the first half to get the Lady Barons going! Cocalico’s Kira Lehman dropped a Game-High 14 points, but the Lady Eagles season ended at 12-11!

On the latest episode of Sportstalk... we continued getting you ready for the upcoming Winter Sports Season by looking at a few "Spotlight Players" from our local boys basketball teams! In this conversation, we looked at returning scorers for Cocalico, Ephrata, Manheim Central & Warwick!

Manheim Central picked up a 7-2 win over Section 3 rival Cocalico, sweeping the season series 3-0! Central’s Cam Thompson went 3-3 with 5 RBI! Senior pitcher Cael Martin got the Win! ◾️Barons punched their ticket to the L-L League Playoffs (2nd place in Sec. 3) on Thursday, May 9 & will face Section 1 Champ Hempfield at 4:15pm!

Warwick softball stayed unbeaten at 4-0 with a BIG Win over Section 1 rival Manheim Township… 7-5! Warriors Freshman Pitcher Kate Shaak picked up her 4th win of her career with 6 K’s! Bella Smithson went 3-4, 2R-HR, 3 RBI, 2 Runs & has a .600 batting average!
