Sportstalk Recap: Week 1 HS Football

In one of the most EXCITING & entertaining wrestling matches of the year… Warwick knocked off Manheim Central 39-27 for their first win of the season! The Warriors took an early 14-0 lead over the Barons with wins at 121, 127, & 133! But Central dug themselves out of a big hole with pins from AJ Hondru (172), Noah Templin (189), & Brodie Daugherty (FFT-215) to lead it 27-23! However, Julian Rodriguez’s pin at 285 catapulted Warwick back into the lead and the Warriors finished strong for the victory!

On the latest episode of Sportstalk... we continued to talk about the Winter Sports Season & check back in on our local girls basketball teams! In this conversation, we looked at the Ephrata Lady Mounts & Manheim Central Lady Barons... who are both chasing Section Titles this season! In addition, we talked about Maddie Knier's 1,000th point moment, Jasmine Griffin's quest to reach 1K & Cocalico Lady Eagle Kiersten Shipton breaking a program record! Cocalico ran into a very tough Lancaster Catholic squad in the quarterfinals as the Eagles & Crusaders traded shots & saves… but neither team could put one home… UNTIL Cocalico netted the game winner in 2OT! Jordan Wambolt was the hero for the Eagles, scoring in the 103rd minute to give Cocalico the 1-0 win!

🔹 Cocalico boys fell to Hempfield in the League Semifinals 1-0 in overtime!

Ephrata collected another rivalry win to start the season 2-0! Mounts took down Warwick 10-4 & beat Cocalico 4-0 on Friday, March 24! The top 4 hitters for the Mounts went 5-9 with 6 walks & 9 runs scored, including Coy Schwanger’s surprise steal of home!
