L-L Boy’s Basketball: Garden Spot vs. Cocalico (12-17-21)

On the latest episode of Sportstalk... we continued to talk about the Winter Sports Season & check back in on our local boys basketball teams! In this conversation, we looked at the Warwick Warriors, who are chasing another Section 2 Title this season! In addition, we talked about Manheim Central's season & Trey Grube quickly approaching the 1,000th point milestone! Plus, we take a look at the L-L Boys Playoff bracket and see which teams are in line to make a run at the League Title! Check out what our panel had to say about these topics!

Manheim Central grabbed their 1st Win of the season 40-24 over Cocalico in another Great Section 2 Showdown! Upper weights started off strong for the Barons with Falls from Noah Templin at 189, Brodie Daugherty at 215, & Jason Dougherty at 285! Eagles fought back at the lighterweights, but Central’s Cody Hess (160) & AJ Hondru (172) slammed the door for the Baron Win!

Another stellar L-L League Wrestling Championship in the books! Here’s a look at the sights and sounds from the days’ action from Manheim Township HS!

🔹Conestoga Valley won the boys team title after they sent 6 wrestlers to the Finals, winning 5 🥇 Ephrata finished 4th, Manheim Central 6th, Cocalico 9th, Warwick 11th & Garden Spot 17th! On the girls side, JP McCaskey won the team title over Hempfield, with Warwick finishing 7th as our only local school with a girls team!

▪️Congrats to Northern Lebanon’s Aaron Seidel who joined the 4X League Champion Club winning at 133lbs!

In the 60th meeting of the "Backyard Brawl"... Cocalico beat Ephrata 10-7! It's the 9th straight win for the Eagles in this rivalry, as the Review Cup stays in Denver! But the All-Time series tightens up to 31-29 in favor of Ephrata!

-- Cocalico: Dane Horning's 30 yard TD run in the 2nd quarter was the difference for the Eagles! Talen Popolis also added a field goal in the win!

-- Ephrata: Brayden Brown ripped off a nifty 76 yard TD run for the Mounts only score!
